AscendZ Privacy Policy

AscendZ is a habit and goal tracker made by Core Feature Lab, run by Yash Khelkar in Pune, India. This policy covers the AscendZ iOS app and this website.

The short version: AscendZ has no advertising and no tracking. It stores the goals, habits and to-do tasks you create so they follow you between devices, sends anonymous usage statistics that never include anything you write, and does not collect anything about you that it does not need. For the AI coach and the written summaries it sends a summary of your plan, with nothing that names you, to OpenAI or Anthropic (see below).

What AscendZ collects

Your account

When you sign in, AscendZ stores an account identifier and, where your sign-in method provides one, your email address. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password.

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Apple does not share your real address and AscendZ never sees it. Apple also only sends an address on your first authorization, so an account created that way may have no email address stored at all. AscendZ works normally either way, and offers such an account a way to add an address later, so it can be recovered.

What you put into the app

The content you create is stored so it can sync to your other devices and survive reinstalling the app:

• Goals and the habits under them, including names you type
• To-do tasks: what you type, their due dates, the week and the day you plan them for, and the day you finish them
• Which habits you completed, and on which days
• Challenges, their settings, and their history
• Days you marked as frozen, and your streak history
• App settings, including reminder times and your buddy notification choices

Notifications

If you allow notifications, AscendZ stores a push token for your phone and your phone's timezone. They are used only to deliver the notifications you turned on, such as a nudge from a buddy, and only outside quiet hours in your timezone. They are deleted when you sign out or delete your account. Notifications are never used for marketing.

Buddy

If you connect with a buddy, AscendZ shares only the individual habits you explicitly choose to share, and the days you completed them. Your goals, your other habits, your challenges and your to-do tasks are never shared. Either of you can revoke a share at any time, which removes it from the other person's device.

Feedback you send

If you send feedback from inside the app, AscendZ stores what you wrote so it can be read and replied to.

Purchases

From version 1.3, AscendZ Plus can be bought inside the app. Apple takes the payment, so AscendZ never sees your card or your Apple ID. RevenueCat keeps a record of what was bought (the product, its dates, and whether it is a free trial) under your account identifier, so Plus follows your account to a new phone, and tells our server when a subscription starts, renews, ends or is refunded.

AscendZ's own database stores which plan your account is on (free, AscendZ Plus, or founding member) and, on the free plan, how many of the free coach questions you have used. Both are deleted with your account.

Refunds and cancellations are handled by Apple, in your App Store account settings. Deleting your AscendZ account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel it with Apple first. After an account is deleted, the purchase record stays with RevenueCat for accounting, under an identifier that no longer belongs to any account.

Anonymous usage data and crash reports

From version 1.3, AscendZ sends anonymous usage events and crash reports, so we can see which parts of the app help people and what breaks. An event records that something happened, such as a habit being ticked, a screen being opened or a reminder being turned on, with numbers and settings such as how many days you have logged or which theme you use.

An event never contains anything you typed: no habit, goal or challenge names, no coach messages, no feedback, no email address or name, and nothing about your buddies. Each install of the app gets a random identifier that is not linked to your account. AscendZ does not keep your IP address and does not work out your location from it. A crash report contains the error, the screen it happened on, and the app and iOS versions.

Because this data is not linked to your account, it cannot be looked up or deleted together with your account. Deleting your account gives your phone a new random identifier.

What AscendZ does not collect

• No advertising identifiers, and no advertising
• No usage data linked to you or to your account
• No location data
• No contacts, photos, health data or calendar access
• No tracking across other apps or websites

Who processes your data

AscendZ is a small app and uses a small number of services to run. Each one only receives what it needs.

Each of them is bound, by the agreement AscendZ holds with them, to protect your data to at least the standard set out in this policy, to process it only on AscendZ's instructions for the purposes described here, and not to sell it or use it for advertising. None of them is given your data for any purpose of their own, with one exception: OpenAI may use the de-identified summaries it receives to improve its models, as described under OpenAI and Anthropic.

Supabase

Provides the database and the sign-in system. Your account and the content listed above are stored there. Access is restricted per account at the database level, so one account cannot read another's rows.

OpenAI and Anthropic

AscendZ has an optional AI coach and short written summaries: the Momentum line on Today, the Weekly Read, the Month and Year reads, the note on a finished challenge, and the text of the evening reminder. To write them, a summary of your plan is sent to OpenAI's API or to Anthropic's Claude API, whichever AscendZ is using at the time.

What is sent: the names you gave your goals, habits and challenges, your reminder times, your goals' target dates and which days each habit is planned, and counts and streaks worked out from your completions. To-do goals and their tasks are left out. For the coach, the questions you type and its recent replies go too. Emails, phone numbers and links typed into a question or a name are replaced before sending. Your display name, email address, account, device and buddies are never sent, and the request goes from our server, not from your phone.

OpenAI may keep what it receives and use it to improve its models. Anthropic does not use it to train its models. Newer versions of the app show you this once, before your first coach question; the note stays reachable from Settings.

PostHog

Receives the anonymous usage events and crash reports described above, and stores them in the European Union. It never receives your account identifier, your email address or anything you wrote.

RevenueCat

Manages in-app purchases: it receives your account identifier and the purchase records Apple provides, and nothing else about you or your habits.

Apple and Google

Used for signing in, if you choose those methods, and for delivering notifications. What they collect is covered by their own privacy policies.

Expo

Our push-notification provider. When a buddy's nudge or cheer is sent to your phone, Expo receives your device push token and the notification text, and passes them to Apple for delivery. It receives nothing else about you or your habits.

Notifications

Habit reminders and timer alerts are scheduled on your device, and their content stays on your device. The evening reminder's words may be written by the AI from the summary of your plan described under OpenAI and Anthropic; the reminder itself is still scheduled on your device. Notifications are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

How it is kept

Traffic between the app and its services is encrypted in transit. Your sign-in session is stored in the iOS Keychain rather than in ordinary app storage. Data is held for as long as your account exists.

Removing a goal or habit takes it off your plan and keeps its history, so you can restore it. Deleting a to-do task keeps it on our servers, marked as deleted, so your other devices delete it too; it goes for good when you erase its goal or delete your account. Erase history deletes a removed goal with everything under it (its habits and their ticks, or its to-do tasks), its Finished records and any buddy shares of it from our servers at once. Erasing a missed goal or an unfinished challenge in Finished deletes that record from our servers at once. For each erase we keep only a one-way code made from its id and the date you erased it, so none of your devices uploads it again. AI text already written about it stays as it is. Deleting your account deletes everything.

When you delete your account, every row belonging to it is removed from the database in the same operation, including any feedback you sent from inside the app. It is immediate and it is not reversible.

We keep encrypted backups of the database. They are kept on the developer's computer for up to 3 months (7 daily, 4 weekly and 3 monthly copies) and, optionally, in the developer's iCloud Drive. They do not include sign-in sessions or device push tokens. A deleted account stays in the backups that already exist until they expire, at most 3 months later; if a backup is ever restored, deleted accounts are removed from the restored copy.

No system is perfectly secure, and AscendZ is built and maintained by one person. If you find a security problem, please write to support@corefeaturelab.com.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app, under Manage, and you do not have to ask anyone. Deleting removes your account and the content attached to it, including your goals, habits, to-do tasks, completions, challenges and any buddy shares. It cannot be undone.

If you would rather do it by email, write to support@corefeaturelab.com from the address on the account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to receive a copy of it. AscendZ gives you deletion directly in the app. For anything else, write to support@corefeaturelab.com and it will be handled within 30 days.

Children

AscendZ is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has created an account, write in and it will be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
