Ascend is made by one person, so your email goes to someone who can actually fix the problem. Write to [email protected] and you will get a reply within two working days.

It helps to include your iOS version, your iPhone model, and what you did just before the problem appeared. A screenshot is worth more than a description.

Common questions

How does a streak count?

A streak belongs to a goal, not to a single habit. A day counts once the habits under that goal are done for the day. That is why one goal can be on a long run while another starts again.

I forgot to tick something yesterday

Open the week or month view and tap the day. You can edit any day within the last seven. Beyond that the record stands, on purpose, because a tracker you can rewrite freely stops telling you anything.

I missed a day and do not want to lose the streak

You have two streak freezes per calendar month. Freezing a day keeps the chain intact. They do not roll over, so they run out if you lean on them.

What is a cheat day in a challenge?

When you start a challenge you choose how many days you are allowed to miss. Miss more than that and the challenge ends. Two is the default.

My buddy cannot see my habit

Buddies see only the individual habits you shared, one at a time. Sharing a goal does not share the habits under it. Check the share is still active on both sides, and note that either of you can revoke it.

My widget is showing old numbers

Widgets read a snapshot the app writes, and iOS decides how often to refresh them. Open Ascend once and the widget updates on its next refresh. If it stays stale, remove the widget and add it again.

My reminders are not arriving

Check that notifications are allowed for Ascend in iOS Settings, then check the reminder is switched on for that habit. Reminders are scheduled on the device, so they also stop if notifications are turned off system-wide or Focus is filtering them.

I signed in with Apple and my email is missing

Apple only sends an email address the first time you authorize an app. If you had signed in before, the account may have none stored. Everything still works. Write in if you want an address added.

Does Ascend work offline?

Yes. You can tick habits without a connection and they sync when you are back online.

Deleting your account

Open Manage, then Account, and choose to delete. It removes your account and everything attached to it, including goals, habits, completions, challenges and buddy shares. It cannot be undone and does not need anyone's approval.

If you would rather not do it in the app, email [email protected] from the address on the account.

Bugs and feature requests

Both are welcome at the same address, or through the feedback option inside the app. Ascend is built around one idea, the streak you do not want to break, so requests that protect that get built first and requests that add surface usually do not get built at all. You will get a straight answer either way.

Privacy

What Ascend stores and who processes it is set out in the privacy policy. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
